The markhor (Capra falconeri) is a striking goat that lives in the mountainous forests of Central and South Asia. This species’ signature spiral horns can be found on both males and females, but they are more prominent in males, which use the headgear to battle for female attention during mating season. The markhor, whose main predators include wolves, lynxes, and snow leopards, also stays hyper-aware of its surroundings as it scans for threats thanks to exceptional eyesight and keen sense of smell.
